The short version
PhotoEye Pro is built with a simple philosophy: your data belongs to you. The app does not collect, transmit, or sell any personal information. Everything runs on your device.
The complete truth: We have no servers that receive your data. We have no database of users. We genuinely do not know who you are — and that is by design.
What we access and why
PhotoEye Pro requests the following device permissions:
- Camera — required to display the live viewfinder and capture photos. No frames are recorded or transmitted.
- Photo Library — required to save captured photos and load them into the gallery. No photos are uploaded anywhere.
- Motion & Gyroscope — used for the level/horizon indicator. This data is never stored or transmitted.
All image processing (filters, effects, spectral vision) is performed on-device using Apple's Core Image and Metal frameworks. Nothing is sent to a server.
What stays on your device
The following information is stored locally using Apple's UserDefaults and never transmitted:
- Whether you have completed the onboarding flow
- How many times you have opened the app (used to determine paywall timing)
- Whether you have purchased the lifetime unlock (handled by Apple's StoreKit)
This data exists solely on your device. Deleting the app removes it entirely.
In-App Purchases
PhotoEye Pro offers a one-time lifetime purchase at $19.99. All payment processing is handled exclusively by Apple's App Store and StoreKit 2 framework.
- We never receive or store your payment card details
- Purchase verification is performed locally via Apple's signed transactions
- To restore a purchase, use the "Restore Purchase" button in the app — this queries Apple's servers directly
No third-party SDKs
PhotoEye Pro contains no third-party libraries, SDKs, or frameworks beyond Apple's own system frameworks. Specifically, we do not use:
- Analytics platforms (Firebase, Amplitude, Mixpanel, etc.)
- Advertising networks (AdMob, Meta Audience Network, etc.)
- Crash reporting tools (Sentry, Crashlytics, etc.)
- Social login or social sharing SDKs
Children's Privacy
PhotoEye Pro does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13. Since we collect no data at all, the app is inherently compliant with COPPA and similar regulations.
Policy updates
If we ever change this privacy policy, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Since our policy is "collect nothing," we do not anticipate meaningful changes.
